So what is a strop?
A strop is used to maintain a sharp edge on your knives and cutting tools. It should be used after each use to help polish the edge and maintain a keen cutting edge. Using a strop in this way can help reduce the frequency you need to sharpen your blade.
These strops are made from beech hardwood with a veg-tanned leather face, and I now offer three different sizes to best meet your needs.
The large strop measures 11″ long, 2″ wide and 8/10″ deep which allows for a firm hold or the ability to mount in a bench vice. This is the strop I would recommend for your sharpening kit. It is large enough to cope with all knives and tools, and offers a nice firm platform for stability whilst sharpening.
The medium strop measures 6″ long, 2″ wide and 8/10″ deep. This is a great strop for your workbench, ideal for sharpening tools and knives as and when you are using them. It is also a great size for maintaining your axe. A perfect pack strop.
The pocket strop measures 5.5″ long, 1.5″ wide and 8/10″ deep. This is idea to pop in your pocket when you know you are going to be using a knife in the field and it may need a bit of maintenance. Great for when you are out camping, fishing and hunting and may need to maintain your knife, but don’t need the big boy tools until you get home.
Leather strops can be used on their own, or can be used with a polishing compound. I love Smurf poo which I also have for sale, or you can apply your own favourite.
