Neck Knife
Neck knives make excellent companion tools. I tend to wear one whilst camping, fishing or foraging and when a larger belt knife is not necessary.
Having a knife that is easy to hand such as a neck knife is great in these situations. It can be discreetly tucked into your shirt, but easily accessible when needed. When fishing it can be quickly drawn from its sheath to cut line or to cut up your bait and then popped back into its sheath ready for when you need it next. In a situation like this, a stainless steel blade and a Kydex sheath make for easy maintenance.
It is important when choosing your neck knife to check how the cord is attached. All of my neck knives have a quick release system that will stop you from choking if you get tangled up. There is a popper connector that sits at the back of your neck, and if too much pressure is applied to the cord the popper will break releasing the cord from around your neck.
